A voice can open doors. A purposeful voice can inspire others to walk through them. For Dr. Renee M. White, Ed.D., affectionately known as Dr. Nay, that truth has shaped nearly four decades of work in education, storytelling, poetry, and empowerment.
An award-winning educator, bestselling author, empowerment strategist, media professional, speaker, poet, and Spoken Fusion artist, Dr. Nay brings scholarship and creativity into the same conversation. At the heart of her work is her signature philosophy, Embrace Your Power—a call for women and young people to recognize their worth, own their stories, claim their voices, and intentionally use the power already within them.
Poetry is one of Dr. Nay’s most powerful vehicles for that mission. She transforms experiences of womanhood, identity, relationships, self-love, resilience, social consciousness, and personal growth into poetic narratives that invite audiences to feel, reflect, question, heal, and act. Through her innovative Spoken Fusion artistry, she takes poetry beyond the page, blending spoken word, motivational messaging, storytelling, and music to create experiences that engage both the heart and mind.
Her commitment to voice and legacy has deep roots. Dr. Nay traces her maternal ancestry to free Black ancestors in Louisa County, Virginia, dating to the late 1700s. Although free, their voices and stories were largely absent from the historical narrative. Their legacy gives her work a deeply personal foundation: she uses the voice she has today to honor those whose voices history did not preserve.

Throughout her career, Dr. Nay’s scholarship has included journal articles, book chapters, academic presentations, curriculum development, and editorial work. Yet she believes education reaches its greatest potential when knowledge leads to self-discovery and action.
That belief anchors her signature framework: Educate. Embrace. Empower. Emancipate. Gain knowledge. Embrace your authentic identity. Recognize your agency. Then free your voice to live, lead, create, and influence boldly.
As an Empowerment Strategist, Dr. Nay brings these worlds together—education, leadership, storytelling, poetry, and lived experience—to move individuals beyond momentary motivation toward meaningful transformation. Her message is not about giving people power; it is about helping them recognize and strategically activate the power they already possess.
For Sheen Magazine, Dr. Nay’s story reflects the evolution of a woman who has transformed her gifts into one purposeful mission. Through education, poetry, media, and creative expression, she encourages other women to understand that their stories matter, their voices have value, and their experiences can become catalysts for impact.
Her legacy carries a compelling invitation: Know your worth. Own your story. Claim your voice. Embrace Your Power.
