Botswana Leaves UNDP With P50 million Unpaid Bill
Botswana has left the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) carrying a US$3.8 million (about P50 million) unpaid bill. The latest revelation exposes a long-running failure by government to meet its financial obligations to the UN agency and raising fresh questions about the sustainability of development programmes in the country.
The revelation is contained in an audit of UNDP Botswana conducted by the Office of Audit and Investigations (OAI) between 2 and 13 February 2026, covering the 2025 financial year.
