The Bridging Science and Community Program (BSCP) is officially accepting applications for its sixth cohort through September 4, 2026. The program is seeking passionate individuals ready to address cancer disparities through collaborative, transdisciplinary action.
Formerly known as the Research and Community Scholars Program, an initiative of the Community and Cancer Science Network, BSCP offers a unique, no-cost opportunity for Milwaukee community members and Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center researchers to collaborate. Together, participants learn how biology, lifestyle, environment, healthcare, and policy intersect to impact cancer in different communities and work on transdisciplinary solutions to drive meaningful impact on cancer disparities.
Who Should Apply?
If you are eager to embrace new perspectives, build robust collaboration skills, and form deep connections across professional and lived boundaries, you belong here. Ideal Scholars fall into two main categories:
Community Leaders & Members
Individuals with lived experience with cancer or health disparities who want to positively impact cancer outcomes by translating real community needs into actionable research, policy, or clinical practice.
Early-to-mid Career Researchers
Graduate students, post-docs, early-career research faculty, or equivalent early-to-mid-career academic professionals who are committed to cancer disparities research and eager to enhance their skills as transdisciplinary collaborators.
Beyond your background, we look for scholars who embody a willingness to embrace different perspectives, grow personally and professionally, and have an eagerness to embrace radically different perspectives and lived experiences.
