Airtel Africa Foundation Highlights Digital Skills Programmes for African Youth

The Airtel Africa Foundation  has reaffirmed its commitment to equipping young Africans with the digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy, highlighting programmes in Tanzania and Nigeria as part of its World Youth Skills Day celebrations.

The foundation said rapid technological change is reshaping workplaces across industries, making access to relevant digital training, mentorship and career opportunities increasingly important for young people across the continent.

In Tanzania, the foundation is supporting Fursa Lab, a programme that provides hands-on training in emerging technologies, including coding, robotics and mobile application development. The initiative is designed to help young people strengthen their digital capabilities while encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.

In Nigeria, the foundation highlighted DigiLeap, an initiative focused on preparing young women for careers in technology. The programme combines industry-relevant digital skills training with mentorship, leadership development and exposure to real-world career opportunities, helping participants build pathways into the technology sector.

According to the foundation, the impact of the programmes extends beyond technical training by helping participants develop confidence, practical experience and professional networks that can support long-term career growth.

Marking World Youth Skills Day, the Airtel Africa Foundation said it remains committed to investing in initiatives that bridge the digital skills gap and enable more young Africans to participate in the continent’s growing digital economy.
