Maputo (MOZTIMES) - Mozambique’s National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) announced on Sunday that it has carried out one of the largest ever drug seizures in the country, with 3.7 tonnes of fentanyl discovered in the warehouses of a private company at Maputo Airport.
Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid, which is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Its primary legitimate use is in pain management for cancer patients and those recovering from surgery.
