Why Is Hasan Piker Suddenly Every Democrat’s Problem?
Jamie Raskin was the latest Democrat asked to answer for Piker’s controversial remarks and Abdul El-Sayed’s relationship with the streamer.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) found himself as the next contestant on What Do You Know About Hasan Piker?
It’s a game that all Democrats must play whether they actually know the popular streamer or not. Despite Piker being a private citizen with no ties to actual policy, Democratic policymakers still find themselves being questioned about him.
Raskin appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday, as was questioned by host Kristen Welker, who pressed Raskin over Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed’s relationship with Piker.
Welker played Raskin a portion of Piker’s stream in which he can be heard stating that he’d vote for Hamas over Israel “every single time.” Welker then asked if the Democratic Party was inclusive of the streamer’s position.
“I don’t even know if Hasan Piker considers himself a Democrat,” Raskin said. “I know he attacked me for campaigning with Callie Barr and Sean McCann and other Democrats in Michigan. I think all of that is an irrelevant distraction,” Raskin said. “Obviously, nobody supports Hamas, a terrorist organization which brutally attacked Israel on Oct. 7.”
This all stems from El-Sayed’s refusal to denounce his interactions with Piker as he runs for Senate. Raskin has noted that he’s campaigned alongside the lifelong Michiganer.
Piker, who endorsed El-Sayed and appeared at multiple campaign events during the Democratic primary, reiterated his comparison between Hamas and Israel during an April appearance on “Pod Save America.”
“I’ve also said I’m a harm reduction voter. I’m a lesser evil voter, and therefore I would vote for Hamas over Israel every single time,” Piker said in the clip played for Raskin on Sunday.
El-Sayed has been adamant that Piker didn’t speak for his campaign.
“I want to be crystal clear, nobody speaks for this campaign besides me and my campaign spokespeople,” El-Sayed said.
It’s important to note that no one on the right has been asked to explain Laura Loomer’s rhetoric which recently included the president’s bestie calling a prominent Black female Democrat Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) a “….ghetto black communist b—h who doesn’t belong in Congress.”
