By Breaking Belize News Staff: On August 2, 2026, the United Democratic Party (UDP) selected its five councillor candidates as it gears up for municipal elections in San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town.
The party convention was held in the Twin Towns.
Lin Valentine secured the highest number of votes with 555, followed by Abdel Cowo with 429, Tosh Lanza with 411, Illiana Moreno with 379, and Kim Price with 349.
The five emerged victorious from eight candidates vying for spots on the party’s municipal slate.
The elected councillor candidates will now join mayoral candidate Earl Trapp and Councillor Leader Bernadette Fernandez to complete the UDP’s ticket for the upcoming municipal elections.
Following the convention, the UDP expressed gratitude to its candidates, delegates, volunteers.
