The Super Bowl champion was set to return to the league after injury, but concerning allegations may mean that won’t happen.
Tyreek Hill was on his way back to the NFL, despite a devastating leg injury. But his divorce case, may impact his future in the league as well as his pockets.
His soon to be ex-wife Lakeeta Vaccaro has testified in a civil assault battery case that Hill was abusive on multiple occasions in from January 2024 through May of 2025. Police were called as a result of those disputes three times but none of the calls resulted in charges. Because the case is civil, Hill is not facing charges at all, but an NFL spokesman, has said they are aware of the case, and it is “under review under the personal conduct policy” per ESPN.
Vaccaro alleges that after they married in 2023 and got pregnant the former Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs player didn’t want her to have the baby.
In testimony that is also part of their divorce, Vaccaro says that “the worst” of the abuse was during a July 12, 2024, visit to ESPN headquarters. She says at their hotel, Hill attacked her when she was pregnant, he attempted to hit her in the stomach, but she says she deflected the punch.
In another incident, she says on April 7, 2025, the two argued at their Miami apartment. He threw her computer to the ground, tried to grab her and started cursing at her. Her mother was at their home at the time, and a “nanny-cam” recorded the incident, which Vaccaro introduced in court. Their daughter was sleeping in a bedroom and the argument spilled into her room. However, when police were called, she told them the argument “never became physical.”
In court testimony, Vaccaro said that she felt trapped in the relationship while she was pregnant but was motivated by her daughter to take action and move forward with divorce proceedings.
“I’ve been in this cycle with him for so long, being pregnant and realizing, what am I going to do? How am I going to get myself out of this,” Vaccaro said. “[The abuse] got worse and worse and worse. And it got to a point where, now I’m a new mom. I have to think of her. I have to think about what I’m putting myself through.”
Vaccaro is the sister of former NFL safety Kenny Vaccaro who played eight seasons with the Rams and the Titans.
Hill suffered a significant lower leg injury in Week 4 last season while playing with the Dolphins. He had surgery to repair a dislocated left knee and multiple ligaments including his ACL. He shared in an online workout video that he had “no power” in the leg.
But it has been reported that the Kansas City Chiefs wanted to sign him this season. He played six years for the Chiefs, making the All-Pro team each year and winning a Super Bowl with them in 2020. He was traded to the Dolphins in 2022 after he and Chiefs could not come to terms on a contract renewal.
In 2014, while in college, Hill pled guilty to domestic violence charges. He served three years’ probation after his plea to domestic assault and battery by strangulation. His then-girlfriend was pregnant at the time.
