By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize gets a bright and hot Tuesday to work with, but the umbrellas should stay within reach, another tropical wave approaches and crosses the country on Wednesday, bringing showers and thunderstorms mostly to central and southern areas.
According to the National Meteorological Service, relatively moist and unstable conditions prevail. Skies will be sunny with a few cloudy spells today, turning cloudy at times tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be generally isolated, with a few more likely mostly over the south and possibly some central areas tonight.
Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will climb to 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before dropping to 73 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius).
At sea, the water carries some bounce, with easterly winds of 10 to 20 knots, choppy conditions, and waves of 3 to 5 feet, worth the usual care for smaller vessels.
The midweek change is the one to plan around. For Wednesday and Wednesday night, skies will be cloudy at times with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms likely occurring mostly over central and southern areas on Wednesday, then mostly over the south Wednesday night, as a tropical wave approaches and crosses the country.
On the tropical front, the reassurance holds. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the region over the next 48 hours.
Today’s low tides are at 8:08 AM and 7:51 PM, with a high tide at 1:59 PM and another high at 1:55 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:24 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:33 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Tareek Matthews.
