South Korea rolls out new opportunities for Tanzanian scholars to study in Seoul
The Government of the Republic of Korea has been actively implementing development cooperation projects that contribute to Tanzania’s sustainable development in various fields, including health, education, rural development, water and infrastructure.

Korea is rolling out new opportunities for vocational scholars from Tanzania to enroll, travel and further their technical training programs in the East Asian country.
The Korean envoy to Tanzania, ambassador Ahn, Eun Ju said her country was aware of the importance of technical and vocational studies in Tanzania as far as youth empowerment and job creation are concerned.
“That is why Korea is assisting Tanzania in building the country’s capacity for youth training, especially in fields of science, technical studies and innovation,” stated Ambasador Eun Ju.
The envoy was speaking here after accomplishing the tour of the Arusha Technical College (ATC) main campus where Korea implements the Innovative Energy Education Program (IEEP).
“We are satisfied that graduates from this institution are well equipped to secure employment as well as establish their own profitable innovative ventures,” Ambassador Eun Ju added.
She said the program is also sustainable because it complements the Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.
But for those that want to further their studies, the Korean Embassy in Dar will be posting such opportunities on their website and other social media platforms.
On his part, the managing director of the Innovative Energy Education Program, Dr Herb S. Rhee said Korea through the Seoul National University (SNU) and Hanyang University has been assisting the IEEP programs at the Arusha Technical College for over seven years.
“This initiative is undertaken with the aim of making Tanzanian students self-reliant,” said Dr Rhee adding that the Korean envoy has been pleased with the ongoing achievements.
“The Korean government is aware of the need for technical studies as the best way to empower young people,” he added.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, the Republic of Korea and the United Republic of Tanzania have steadily developed a close and friendly cooperative relationship

Projects such as the Tanzanite Bridge and the Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila have been described as enduring symbols of friendship and cooperation between the two nations, and well recognized by the people of Tanzania.
Meanwhile Korean companies in Tanzania continue to expand, and bilateral trade between the two countries, according to the Embassy, has shown steady growth.
In 2022, total trade volume reached approximately USD 400 million, marking a historic high.
Major national projects by the Tanzanian government, such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the Lake Victoria shipbuilding projects, and the establishment of customs and national tax systems all are important examples of the active participation of Korean companies.
