Police do not suspect foul play in death of ‘Kimmy Boo’

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police say they do not presently suspect foul play in the death of 22-year-old Kimane Rosita Ashanti Garbutt, whose decomposing body was found inside an upstairs room in Belize City on Sunday.

Garbutt, who was also publicly known as “Kimmy Boo,” was discovered at a building at the corner of Vernon Street and Amandala Drive at about 9:30 a.m. on August 2.

Police said Garbutt was last seen alive at approximately 7:00 a.m. the previous day, when she told a friend that she was not feeling well. The friend returned to check on her the following morning and entered the room after repeated calls went unanswered.

Garbutt’s motionless body was found in a seated position and had already begun to decompose.

According to information previously released to the media, Garbutt was in the third trimester of pregnancy, had suffered from epileptic seizures and had reportedly experienced pregnancy complications. She had visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for a prenatal check-up approximately two weeks before her death.

Police said a post-mortem examination will determine the cause of death.
