“Now I’m a 10K Weave”: Anele Zondo Reflects On How Far She Has Come. Anele Zondo is taking a moment to look back at the girl she once was and marvel at the woman she has become.

The South African entertainer recently shared a heartfelt reflection on social media, recalling how the dreams she had as a 16-year-old girl from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, have grown into a reality she could once only imagine.

“My 16 year old self has had quite a few pinch me moments in this life. It was once all a dream for a girl yase Newcastle; now I’m a 10k weave all by the grace of God that has kept me & his power that lives through me. Isaiah 60:22,” Anele Zondo wrote.

While the R10,000 weave adds a playful touch to her post, the message behind it is much deeper. For Zondo, it represents one of the many visible reminders of how dramatically her life has changed through years of ambition, sacrifice, faith and persistence.

Growing up as the youngest of four daughters, Anele was raised in a family where education and music played an important role. Her mother was a teacher, while her father worked as a school principal and choir conductor. From a young age, she already imagined herself in front of cameras, creating her own television shows on a laptop in her bedroom.

Eventually, that bedroom dream led her to Johannesburg, where she studied media at Boston Media House and began working her way into the entertainment industry. Her early career included jobs as an extra and receptionist before she gradually established herself as a presenter, actress and musician.

Over the years, audiences have watched Anele Zondo take on a variety of roles, including presenting Massive Music and playing Faith on The River. She also appeared in the film Gereza and built a music career that initially saw her perform under the name Ney The Bae before embracing her own name, Anele Zondo.

Her journey has also expanded beyond entertainment. Zondo has embraced motherhood while continuing to navigate the demands of a highly visible career, proving that her teenage ambitions were never simply childhood fantasies.

Now fully embracing Anele Zondo as her musical identity, she continues to build across multiple creative spaces while balancing her personal life and motherhood.

Her latest reflection is therefore less about the price tag attached to a weave and more about the distance she has travelled.
