THE NDP on Tuesday morning seemed to justify why there is nothing wrong in having an election in order to have a good majority in the Legislature, pointing out that the minute the polls closed in 2024, the B.C. Conservatives promised to trigger an election “at the earliest possible moment.”
The NDP said in a statement: “[The BC Conservatives] moved a non-confidence motion in February 2025, with every single caucus member voting to trigger an election just four months after the last one.
“Since then they’ve voted against nearly every confidence measure and even called for an election this fall.”
The NDP noted that CentreBC Leader Peter Milobar said: “We can always bring the government down in the fall session on a confidence vote then.”
And Official Opposition Leader Heather Maahs said: “Just call the election… This province can’t bear another minute with this so-called government at the helm.”
