Miles College will take a three-game winning streak on the road to Kentucky State on Saturday, Oct. 10. at 1 p.m. The Golden Bears’ defense has given them a major lift over the last two weeks.

The Thorobreds (3-1, 4-2) are one of the top teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Kentucky State is coming off a 61-42 high-scoring loss to conference foe Edward Waters last week. Miles College (3-1, 3-3) will need to once again lean on its defense to limit Kentucky State’s ability to get the ball in the end zone.

The Golden Bears are led by cornerback Tre Jones on defense who had a terrific performance in the team’s 9-6 victory over Lane College last week. Jones had five tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a blocked punt that led to a safety. This is a big game away from home for Miles College.

In other action in the SIAC, Tuskegee University (2-1, 2-3) will visit Central State (3-1, 3-3) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The kickoff is set for 12 p.m. Tuskegee University will go into this game with a change at head coach. TU announced last Sunday that it has parted ways with head coach Aaron James. The school has begun a national search for a new head coach for the Golden Tigers’ football program. Meanwhile Keith Higdon, Tuskegee University’s assistant head coach and offensive line coach, will be the interim head coach.

The Golden Tigers will look to bounce back after a tough 30-28 loss to Morehouse College last week. Running back Ja’Khael Rowser is one of the leading rushers in the conference with 51 carries for 326 yards and two touchdowns. Rowser has been a steady player for Tuskegee University.

In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Alabama State (1-1, 3-2) will host Florida A&M (0-1, 1-4) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The kickoff will be at 3 p.m. ASU linebacker Mitchell Robinson Jr. has been a real bright spot with his play on defense. Robinson has 32 total and 19 solo tackles this season.

Elsewhere in the SWAC, Alabama A&M (1-1, 4-2) will entertain Bethune-Cookman (1-0, 3-2) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The kickoff will be at 6 p.m. AAMU quarterback Cornelious Brown IV has completed 121 of 188 passes for 1,572 yards with 14 TDs and three interceptions. Brown is among the best passers in the SWAC.
