JUST IN: Ex‑FF Plus caucus leader Grandi Theunissen defects to DA

Grandi Theunissen, the former Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) caucus leader in the Tshwane metro council, has joined the DA.
Theunissen made the announcement during a media briefing on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, in what the DA called a “significant Gauteng political move”.
Theunissen’s announcement follows his removal as leader of the FF Plus caucus in the City of Tshwane earlier this month.
Theunissen had served in this position since 2021.
