By Breaking Belize News Staff: Fresh Pond resident Imari Young, who is before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a burglary charge, was allowed to remain on bail Friday after being brought before the court on a bench warrant for failing to attend a previous court date.
Young appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Neeshad Rohammad, who asked him to explain why his bail should not be revoked after he failed to appear in court on July 22.
Young told the court that he had been sick at the time. He also said his mother is hospitalized and that his father recently died. Young claimed that he had obtained a doctor’s document explaining his absence, although the court reportedly had no record of receiving it.
Despite the missed appearance, the Magistrate did not revoke Young’s bail and allowed him to remain free while his case continues.
Young is charged with burglary and is now scheduled to return to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on October 14, 2026, when his trial is expected to begin.
