A horse died after being struck by a car on the main road in West End on Tuesday, 14 July, police have confirmed.

However, neither the driver nor the passenger reported any injuries, according to a statement from the Royal Anguilla Police Force on 15 July.

Police told Anguilla Focus that the owner was attempting to secure two horses when one escaped and made its way onto the roadway.
The car, which was travelling west along the road, struck the animal, which died at the scene with the owner present.
Investigations are ongoing and an autopsy will be carried out on the horse to determine the exact injuries that caused its death, police said.
The police force reminded Anguilla’s animal owners to ensure that their animals are properly secured and tethered to prevent them from entering roadways.
“Motorists are also reminded to remain alert and proceed with caution, especially in areas where animals may be present,” it added.
