From Behind the Chair to Building a Legacy: Asia Kendra Creates New Opportunities for Women in Beauty

For Asia Kendra, success has never been about staying in one place.

She began doing hair at 16, building her career one client at a time and learning through experience what it meant to create something of her own. Over the past 12 years, that foundation has grown into a multifaceted career as a hairstylist, CEO, educator and business strategist. Through AK Akademy, Kendra has educated more than 1,000 women while developing businesses and establishing herself as a leader in the beauty industry. Now, she is entering a different kind of season.

Kendra is transitioning from being known primarily for what she does behind the chair to being recognized for what she can create beyond it.

That transition is not about walking away from beauty. It is about expanding the definition of what her expertise can become.

As her career evolved, she realized that being an exceptional hairstylist was only one part of building a sustainable business. She had to learn branding, marketing, financial literacy, leadership, networking, systems and scale. She intentionally sought out rooms where those conversations were taking place, often learning through experience and figuring out what she needed along the way.

Eventually, women began asking her how they could find those same opportunities. The questions came through social media whenever Kendra shared an event, brand activation or networking experience: How did you find out about this? How do I get invited? Where can I learn more?

Kendra understood that the real issue was access.

There were women with talent, ambition and businesses who were ready for their next chapter but did not always know where to find the information, relationships or conversations that could help them get there. That realization became the foundation for Boss Loft.

What began as a social media broadcast channel grew into a community of more than 1,200 women. Rather than simply offering motivation, Boss Loft created space for conversations around business structure, financial literacy, visibility, boundaries, burnout and building a brand beyond a client roster.

Its foundation is simple: Community. Conversations. Connections.

In June 2026, Kendra expanded that vision with the inaugural Boss Loft ATL Brand Trip, bringing six founders and business owners to Atlanta from New York City, Memphis, Toronto, West Palm Beach and Tampa.

The weekend gave the women an opportunity to step outside their everyday environments and connect in a more intentional way. They attended the Hair Show, experienced a curated brunch and gathered for an intimate dinner where conversations moved beyond networking and into the realities of entrepreneurship.

They talked about showing up online, becoming visible beyond client work, putting themselves and their brands into the world, and navigating the judgment that can come with wanting more. Kendra also invited women from her network to contribute to the experience. Jaylin Graphics, a marketing strategist and graphic designer, shared insight on brand positioning and visibility. Bella Rose, a wellness advocate, mentor, entrepreneur and business strategist, emphasized empowerment, wellness, purpose and the importance of caring for the woman behind the business.

The Frontal Queen sponsored the experience with its best-selling lace adhesive holding spray, while Alonzo “Lonzo Flicks” documented the weekend through photography and videography. For Kendra, the Atlanta trip represented more than a new event. It reflected where she is headed.

She is becoming increasingly intentional about creating platforms, experiences and opportunities that extend beyond her individual work. The goal is not simply to build another successful business, but to build something that can continue creating impact.

That is the deeper meaning of her transition beyond the chair.

Kendra once had to search for the rooms that helped expand her perspective. Now, she is creating those rooms for others.

Boss Loft gives women a place to connect, ask difficult questions, exchange knowledge and imagine what their next level can look like. And as Kendra continues to evolve, her legacy is beginning to look less like a destination and more like a door, one she is opening for the women coming behind her.
