Arin Patterson, a single Black woman based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is ready to find her husband, so to speed up the process, she created an application to hopefully pin down her forever partner. Since launching her “husband” application via Google Forms on Sept. 8, she’s received over 241 submissions and “anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500” direct messages, the 36-year-old told the New York Post in an interview published Sept. 30.
Arin Patterson’s “Husband” application: How did it start?
Patterson, a senior associate director of the student union at UNC Charlotte, is quite the catch herself. In her video, she describes herself as a devoted “Christian, podcast lover, future momma and award-winning baker” — so clearly, she’s bringing plenty to the table (literally and figuratively).

But her journey to finding a husband hasn’t exactly been a smooth one. The determined dater called off an engagement in 2019 before moving to the Queen City after the pandemic for a fresh start. She’s been officially single for about three years — but it’s not for lack of trying. Patterson has been putting herself out there; she just hasn’t found the right match yet.
“A good amount [of my dates] have been through the dating apps and just meeting people that way because that’s socially acceptable,” Patterson told the New York Post. “I have met people in person and gone on dates that way,” she continued. “I’m always open to people setting me up … I have done literally everything that I know to do, which is how I got to the husband application.”
