Five youth-led projects selected in Belize City Youth Innovation challenge

By Zoila Palma: Five youth-led teams have been selected as winners of the 2026 Youth Innovation Challenge, an initiative of the Belize City Council in partnership with UNICEF Belize and the Child Advisory Body of Belize City.

The challenge encourages young people to develop innovative solutions to issues affecting their communities. Following a competitive selection process, the winning teams secured seed funding and technical support to implement micro-projects focused on mental health advocacy, coastal and environmental protection, youth leadership development, music as a tool for youth engagement, and scholarship preparedness.

The selected teams recently participated in a working session at Belize City Hall, where they refined their project ideas, strengthened implementation plans, and prepared for the rollout of their initiatives.

The Belize City Council noted that the Youth Innovation Challenge is an investment in the next generation of leaders and innovators, providing young people with the resources and guidance needed to turn their ideas into meaningful action and create a lasting impact across Belize City.
