Emtee’s Father Breaks Silence On Nandi Ndathane Amid Explosive Family Dispute. The drama surrounding rapper Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu has taken another turn, with his father, Lumikile Ndevu, speaking publicly about the family dispute that has spilt onto social media and into the courts.

Videos showing a heated confrontation over the keys to a Hyundai H-1 recently circulated online, capturing a tense clash involving Emtee’s family, his girlfriend Nandi Ndathane Moncho and her mother. What initially appeared to be a family disagreement has since escalated into arrests, protection-order applications and competing allegations.

Now, Emtee’s father is offering his account of what happened as publicised by TIMESLIVE.

According to Ndevu, the dispute began shortly after Emtee was arrested last Tuesday for allegedly breaching a 2023 protection order obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.

Ndevu says that later that evening, Nandi and her mother went to the family’s apartment to find out what they intended to do to secure Emtee’s release.

“We told them we had no plans at that moment,” Ndevu recalled.

He claims he suggested that Nandi return Emtee’s clothes, identity documents, bank cards and other personal belongings so that the family could take care of matters while the rapper remained in custody. According to his account, the parties initially agreed.

However, when the Ndevus returned the following day to collect the belongings, he says the situation quickly deteriorated. The family allegedly encountered locked doors, insults and threats.

Ndevu says the matter was reported to police before the family obtained a letter of demand and enlisted a tracking company to locate the H-1. The vehicle was eventually found on Winnie Mandela Drive, where the confrontation recorded on video unfolded.

The family left with the vehicle, while Emtee’s other belongings, including his phone, driver’s licence, clothes and bank cards, allegedly remained behind.

For Ndevu, the dispute is about more than a vehicle. He says his biggest concern is how Emtee’s financial responsibilities will be handled while the rapper remains behind bars, particularly rent and the needs of the children who rely on him.

The situation has also placed significant strain on Emtee’s parents, who Ndevu says have travelled several times from Matatiele in the Eastern Cape to Midrand to support their son during previous court proceedings.

Nandi has since filed her own protection-order application, in which she reportedly accuses Ndevu of verbally attacking her outside the Rivonia complex where she and Emtee had been staying.

She alleges that he attempted to force his way inside, called her an “opportunist” and “gold digger” and threatened to “show her what he’s made of.”

Ndevu strongly disputes those allegations.

“She is not telling the truth,” he said, maintaining that the family’s intention was simply to recover their son’s belongings.

He also described the protection order involving himself and his wife as deeply upsetting, saying it was the first time they had faced such a situation.

“I’ve never even stolen a sweet from the shop,” Ndevu said. “That thing is affecting us, me and my wife.”

The rapper’s father also made further allegations about Nandi’s mother, claiming she has approached artists while allegedly presenting herself as Emtee’s mother and asking for financial contributions towards his bail.

Ndevu stressed that Emtee already has legal representation handling the matter.

From his perspective, the family’s difficulties intensified after Emtee’s relationship with Nandi began, with Ndevu claiming that “everything went from bad to worse.”

The parents are expected to visit Emtee at Johannesburg Correctional Centre this week as they attempt to support their son and navigate an increasingly complicated situation.

Attempts to obtain comment from Nandi and Emtee’s manager were unsuccessful at the time of the original report.

As the legal proceedings continue, the viral videos have become only one part of a much larger dispute. What began with an attempt to recover a vehicle and personal belongings has developed into a public battle over competing versions of events, with accusations of aggression, dishonesty and provocation coming from opposing sides.

At the centre of it all is Emtee, whose ongoing legal troubles have placed renewed pressure on his family as they try to support him away from the cameras and growing public scrutiny.
