Egypt and NVIDIA Discuss AI Cooperation, Skills Development and Innovation

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology  has held discussions with NVIDIA  on potential cooperation in artificial intelligence, data science, digital skills development and support for the country’s innovation ecosystem.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Paolo Guglielmini met with an NVIDIA delegation led by its Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa to explore opportunities for collaboration in research and development, advanced technologies and local capacity building.

The discussions covered plans to support entrepreneurs and startups, provide specialised technical and training content, and expand access to programmes in artificial intelligence and deep learning. The two sides also discussed training-of-trainers programmes and developing local AI and entrepreneurship capabilities for developers, researchers and institutions in Egypt.

The meeting included senior officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and NVIDIA. The parties also discussed preparing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlining proposed areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, Egyptian officials highlighted the country’s strategy for expanding the use of artificial intelligence across government and the wider economy. The approach includes developing government services, training public-sector employees and building specialised skills in AI and advanced technologies.

Egypt launched its national AI strategy in 2019, alongside the establishment of the National AI Council and the Applied Innovation Center. The country has also introduced an Egyptian Charter for Responsible AI. The ministry said these efforts contributed to Egypt ranking first in Africa and third globally in the 2025 AI Readiness Index by Oxford Insights.

Guglielmini said NVIDIA could support Egypt’s ambitions by providing AI development tools, software and training programmes.

The meeting also highlighted Egypt’s technology workforce and growing innovation ecosystem, as well as its position as a potential base for companies seeking to serve African markets. Officials pointed to the country’s international agreements and expanding technology sector as factors supporting investment and market access.

Egypt’s Digital Innovation Centers were also highlighted for their role in developing technology skills, supporting innovators and providing assistance to entrepreneurs and startups across the country.

The discussions further covered the second phase of Egypt’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025–2030, including its objectives and implementation progress. Potential cooperation with NVIDIA is expected to focus on areas including skills development, innovation and wider adoption of AI applications.
