Digicel expands fibre network to reach more than 99 per cent of homes in Saint Lucia

Digicel today announced a major expansion of its end-to-end fibre network across Saint Lucia, bringing its higher speed fibre services within reach of 23 412 additional homes.

Once completed, the rollout will bring Digicel fibre within reach of 53 253 homes, representing nearly all homes across the island.

Supported by an investment of approximately EC$6.36 million, the phased rollout will increase Digicel’s fibre coverage from approximately 56 per cent before the expansion to more than 99 per cent. Work, which began in July 2025, is currently approximately 50 per cent complete. It is expected to conclude by September.

The expanded services span communities across Anse La Raye, Canaries, Soufriere, Choiseul, Dennery, Praslin, Micoud, Vieux Fort, Babonneau, and Castries. Households and businesses will be able to access high-speed home internet, IPTV, and bundled services as each phase is activated, serving as a major boost to online learning, remote work, digital services, entertainment, and day-to-day business operations.

“Reliable, high-speed connectivity should be available to every community in Saint Lucia,” said Joel Wallace, CEO of Digicel St Lucia. “By taking fibre deeper into areas that have traditionally been harder to reach, this investment will give more families and businesses the tools they need to learn, work, access services, and participate in the digital economy.”

The expansion builds on infrastructure developed through the Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Programme (CARCIP), a World Bank-supported initiative undertaken with the Government of Saint Lucia to expand regional broadband connectivity. Digicel’s latest investment leverages that foundation to extend fibre more broadly and equitably into communities across the island.
