By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The bicycle thieves of the Orange Walk District have struck again, this time slipping into an unfenced Trial Farm yard in the dead of night and riding off with a beach cruiser while its owner slept.
According to the Belize Police Department, a man of the Trial Farm area visited the Trial Farm Police Station on Monday, July 27, 2026, to report the theft.
He told police that while he was sleeping at about 12:05 a.m., a man entered his unfenced yard and stole his Hurricane brand beach cruiser bicycle, which cost him $125.
Police recorded a statement from the complainant, and the matter is under investigation. No one has been detained or charged.
The theft adds to a persistent string of bicycle thefts across the district in recent weeks, with beach cruisers proving a favourite target, taken from yards, doorsteps, and even the bus terminal. The pattern carries a simple caution for bicycle owners: an unsecured bike in an open yard rarely survives the night unwatched.
Anyone with information on the theft, or who has seen a Hurricane beach cruiser change hands under questionable circumstances, is asked to contact the Trial Farm police.
