Swerving from rollicking bluegrass jams to quiet folk ballads, these 12 songs capture the challenges, the hopes, and the intimacy of relationships.
Driving snare shots kick off the album opener “Powers That Be,” a funky Southern rocker, driven by Worsham’s searing lead guitar runs, about the power that comes from the freedom to shape one’s own life and not conform to the “powers that be.” Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Marty Stuart and Dierks Bentley on the towering honky-tonk drinking-her-off-my-mind anthem “Whiskeysippi,” while the jaunty and joyous bluegrass rambler “Wrap My Porch Around” is a feel-good sing-along that testifies to the beauty of the simple life: “You and me in a fixer up / Hound dog howlin’ in the yard / Drinkin’ wine from a Dixie Cup / Wishin’ on southern stars.”
