Major Food Recalls Have Hit Popular Products in 2026
Food recalls have drawn plenty of attention in 2026, with products ranging from frozen fruit and cheese to baby food and popular snacks pulled from shelves.

More than 480 food recalls have been announced during the current federal fiscal year, according to FDA figures reported by the Associated Press. That total already tops four of the previous five fiscal years. Meanwhile, FDA inspections of foreign food facilities have fallen nearly 35% since 2019.
Those numbers come as the federal food safety system faces significant changes. FDA employment fell about 22% between 2024 and 2026, while foreign food-facility inspections dropped nearly 13% during fiscal 2025. The FDA has said federal workforce reductions did not affect frontline inspectors. Food safety experts, however, have raised concerns about reduced oversight as food imports continue to grow.

1. Bettergoods Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine
Gias Foods recalled Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine in September over possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The frozen meals were distributed nationwide at Walmart stores. No illnesses had been reported when the company announced the recall.
