Will There Be Another ‘Friday’ Movie? Everything We Know About ‘Last Friday’

The world is getting another Friday Movie, according to the franchise’s leading star Ice Cube. On Aug. 27, the NWA rapper and actor spoke with FOX 10 Phoenix, and when asked if there would be a fourth movie added to the hilarious film series, which is reportedly titled Last Friday, Ice Cube happily responded:

“Yes definitely. We’re working on it as we speak. And we’re working on getting the whole gang back together again.”

So, when will the next Friday movie hit theaters and who will return to the franchise? Here’s what we know. 

When will Last Friday come out?

While an official theatrical release date has not yet been announced, Last Friday is expected to become the fourth film in the franchise, following the three movies already released.

The original Friday premiered in 1995 and went on to become a cult classic, with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker starring as the hilarious duo Craig and Smokey. The comedy follows Craig Jones, a laid-back, street-smart man from South Central Los Angeles who repeatedly finds himself caught up in ridiculous situations involving his hyperactive, weed-smoking best friend Smokey, his family and people in his neighborhood.

Tucker, however, only appeared in the first film. The franchise continued with Next Friday (2000), which follows Craig after he leaves his neighborhood and moves to the suburbs to stay with his Uncle Elroy and cousin Day-Day. The film also introduced Mike Epps to the franchise as Day-Day Jones, Craig’s energetic and nervous cousin who frequently gets dragged into whatever trouble Craig is facing.

The third installment, Friday After Next (2002), puts Craig and Day-Day in a Christmas-themed adventure as they take jobs working security at a shopping mall.

Three Friday movies have been released so far, but the story could soon continue with Last Friday, which is currently in development.
