Who Is Miss World Joheirry Mola Dominguez?

The Dominican Republic has a new reason to celebrate. Joheirry Mola Dominguez was crowned the 73rd Miss World on September 5, as the organization celebrated its 75th anniversary in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The 24-year-old emerged from a field of more than 100 contestants to become just the second Dominican woman ever to win Miss World, following Mariasela Álvarez’s victory in 1982.

But Mola’s story goes well beyond pageants. She graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana with a degree in Business Management and Administration and has built a career that blends education, media and community service. She works as a Literature and Social Studies teacher, teaching the subjects in English, and speaks both Spanish and English.

Mola is also a journalist and correspondent for Univision New York’s “Ventana a Quisqueya,” where he work focuses on Dominican culture, community issues and stories affecting Dominicans. Add professional modeling to the résumé, and it becomes clear why her Miss World platform has been about much more than simply competing for a crown.

A major part of Mola’s work is Voices of Tomorrow, the organization she founded and now leads as president. The initiative focuses on expanding access to English-language education for children and young people in vulnerable communities. Mola has said she sees learning English as a practical tool that can create new educational and career opportunities for children who may not otherwise have access.

That mission became a major part of her Miss World 2026 run through the competition’s longtime Beauty With a Purpose platform. When Mola reached the final stage, she was asked how she would expand the work she was already doing in the Dominican Republic. She emphasized using language education to help young people communicate, build confidence and open doors for themselves long after they leave the classroom.

Her road to the international crown began when she represented Distrito Nacional and won Miss World Dominican Republic 2025. Once she arrived in Vietnam, Mola continued separating herself from the field, including winning the Top Model challenge for the Americas and Caribbean, which helped secure her spot in the Top 40 before she advanced through the remaining rounds. Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés ultimately finished as first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty was named second runner-up.

Now, Mola enters her reign carrying both a historic crown and a platform she had already been building long before Miss World 2026. Between the classroom, journalism and Voices of Tomorrow, her victory gives her an international stage to expand work she was already doing at home. More than four decades after the Dominican Republic’s first Miss World victory, Joheirry Mola Dominguez has put her country back on top — while making it clear she wants the crown to represent opportunity as much as beauty.
