Vodacom CEO Meets Mozambique’s President to Advance Digital Transformation

Vodacom Group CEO  Shameel Joosub has met with Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo to discuss opportunities to accelerate the country’s digital transformation through greater investment in connectivity and digital infrastructure.

The meeting, held in Maputo, focused on a shared ambition to build a more connected, inclusive and digitally enabled Mozambique while exploring ways to unlock new investments that support the country’s economic growth and development priorities.

According to Vodacom, discussions covered opportunities to expand connectivity, fibre infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI) and broader digital transformation initiatives aimed at strengthening the foundations for innovation, economic growth and digital inclusion.

The telecommunications group said Mozambique’s digital transformation presents significant opportunities and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the country’s development through long-term investment and collaboration.

As a long-standing investor in Mozambique, Vodacom said it will continue working with the government, businesses and local communities to expand digital infrastructure, create new opportunities and connect more people to the benefits of the digital economy.

The company added that strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure will be key to enabling innovation, improving competitiveness and supporting sustainable economic development.
