Two Women Dead, 14 Injured, Two Still Missing After Late-Night Boat Collision Off Anse Cochon

A late-night boat collision off Anse Cochon has claimed the lives of two young women, left fourteen people injured and triggered an extensive search for two people who remain missing.
The tragic incident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, when the vessel Ocean Angel collided with the pirogue Mango Tours off the western coast of Saint Lucia.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), preliminary investigations indicate that Mango Tours was travelling south while Ocean Angel was heading north at the time of the collision. The impact caused Mango Tours to sink, while Ocean Angel also sustained significant damage, with part of the vessel later recovered by authorities.
Police have identified the deceased as 21-year-old Mhakeida Nestor of La Fargue, Choiseul, and 25-year-old Debbie Dolor of Market Road, Soufrière.
Fourteen people are currently nursing injuries sustained in the collision, while two others remain unaccounted for as search and rescue operations continue.
Emergency responders, led by the Police Marine Unit, have been conducting an intensive search of the area in an effort to locate the missing individuals. The operation remained ongoing on Sunday as investigators worked to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has extended its condolences to the families and loved ones of the two victims, describing the incident as a tragic loss. Police say investigations are continuing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
