WASHINGTON (AURN News) — A new bipartisan analysis finds senior officials are leaving the Trump administration at a historic pace, raising questions about who is running key federal agencies.
According to the Partnership for Public Service, 27 Senate-confirmed officials have left Cabinet-level departments during the first 18 months of President Donald Trump’s second term. That’s nearly two and a half times the number who departed during the same period of his first administration and more than six times the average under the George W. Bush, Obama and Biden administrations.
Many of those officials spent an average of five months waiting to be confirmed by the Senate, only to remain in office for about eight months before leaving.
Many of those positions also remain vacant. The report found Trump has submitted 578 nominations for Senate-confirmed positions, 91 fewer than the modern presidential average dating back to President Ronald Reagan.
