Tanzania President Mwinyi Reviews TTCL’s Digital Connectivity Expansion in Zanzibar

President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has visited the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) pavilion during the Kizimkazi Festival 2026, where he was briefed on the corporation’s contribution to Zanzibar’s growing digital economy.
During the visit, TTCL Zanzibar Manager Nasra Mugheiry highlighted the expansion of the National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB), which is supporting the rollout of reliable, high-speed connectivity across Zanzibar.
She also outlined TTCL’s Faiba Mlangoni Kwako (FTTH) service, which is expanding access to high-speed fibre internet for homes and businesses. The service is designed to support students, families, entrepreneurs and professionals in accessing digital services and opportunities.
Mwinyi was further briefed on TTCL’s National Internet Data Centre (NIDC) and its cloud computing, virtual server and colocation services. These solutions provide secure and reliable digital infrastructure for businesses and public institutions.
The visit showcased how continued investment in telecommunications infrastructure is helping improve connectivity while creating opportunities for individuals, businesses and communities.
TTCL said it remains committed to expanding digital access and supporting Tanzania’s broader digital transformation agenda.
