By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Two men were detained within hours of an armed robbery at a shop on Big Creek Road in Independence Village on Saturday afternoon.
Police received information of a robbery in progress around 2:30pm. On arrival, officers found a wallet on the floor containing a social security card and other items belonging to one of the assailants.
The shop attendant told police that two men barged into the shop. One pulled out a 9mm pistol and demanded cash while the other took the cash register pan containing an undisclosed amount of money.
Both men then left the shop in an SUV heading toward Belize City.
Coordinated information was sent to G13 personnel, who stopped and detained both suspects at the junction of George Town Village in the Stann Creek District. An undisclosed amount of money was recovered.
Police are continuing investigations.
