MTN Uganda and EBus Xpress Launch Electric, Cashless Bus Route in Kira

MTN Uganda  has partnered with EBus Xpress Kiira Ltd  to launch a new electric bus route in Kira Municipality, introducing a cashless public transport option for commuters.

The new route is designed to provide passengers with a more comfortable and convenient travel experience while supporting Uganda’s transition towards sustainable mobility. The initiative combines electric transport with digital payments, allowing commuters to pay for their journeys without relying on cash.

Speaking at the launch, Ibrahim Senyonga, General Manager, Enterprise Business Unit at MTN Uganda, highlighted the role of digital payments in improving the commuter experience and enabling smarter and more convenient journeys.

The launch was also attended by Rt. Hon. Eng. Asiimwe Jonard, Minister in the Office of the President responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation, and Minsa Kabanda, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs.

Through the partnership, MTN Uganda and EBus Xpress are combining electric mobility, connectivity and digital payments to support more efficient and convenient public transportation while contributing to Uganda’s sustainable mobility goals.
