Mother attacked and threatened with knife while holding her babies

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Guinea Grass Village mother endured a night of escalating terror in her own bedroom, reporting that her common-law husband beat her, threatened to kill her and their two babies, and raised a knife at her as she held the children in her arms, and police are now seeking the man.

According to the Belize Police Department, the 31-year-old woman reported that on Monday, July 27, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., she was putting her two children, ages 2 and 1, to bed when the man arrived appearing to be under the influence, hurled vulgar insults at her, and left after she ignored him and took the children to the bedroom.

About an hour later, she reported, he returned highly intoxicated with a bottle of rum in hand, sat near the bed, resumed the insults, and questioned whether the children were his. He then stood, pointed at her, and threatened to chop her up and dispose of her body where no one would find her.

When she rose to leave the room, telling him he was scaring the children, he punched her to the left side of her head, leaving her dizzy, according to her report. As she held both babies in her arms, he slapped her about six times to the face, causing pain, blurred vision, and ear pain. When she put down her 2-year-old, who was crying and reaching for his father’s leg, the man declared he would kill her and both babies.

The terror deepened. She reported that he went to the kitchen, returned, pinned her against the bedroom wall by the shoulder, raised a knife with a blade about four inches long, and said he would kill her. She bowed her head over her babies. He then released her, switched off the light, plunging her into blinding darkness, and when her eyes adjusted, she found him lying across the doorway, blocking her way out.

The woman told police this was not the first time the man has hit her and threatened to kill her and the children, and that after six years, she cannot take the abuse anymore. She requested court action.

A doctor certified her injuries as harm. Police recorded her statement, and a man has been listed as wanted in connection with the matter.
