ON Monday, September 21 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of a possible two-vehicle collision in the area of Dewdney Trunk Road and 201B Street.
Officers on scene learned that a flat-bed truck and trailer was attempting an eastbound turn on to Lougheed Highway when the back of the trailer flipped over, causing lumber to fall on to the road. The subsequent spill led to a passenger vehicle being struck by debris in the area. No injuries were reported.
Officers are liaising with multiple agencies and crews on scene to have the area cleared. Traffic is still blocked in the area, and motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being and use alternate routes.
Police have issued the truck driver multiple violations under the Motor Vehicle Act, including for having an insecure load, and prohibited the vehicle from being further driven until it passes a comprehensive inspection. The investigation continues.
