Lil Durk Trial: OTF Jam Testifies, Explains Weed Dealer Gave The Drop On Quando Rondo

Lil Durk spent Day 3 of his federal trial hearing OTF Jam connect him to calls surrounding the alleged hunt for Quando Rondo.

Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester continued testifying after FBI Special Agent Jarron Farmby faced a tense morning cross-examination from defense attorney Brian Steel.

Jam told jurors he once held a leadership position within the Black Disciples, where members had separate roles, and he became known as a shooter.

Jam also described serving 12 years in prison while many people he knew gradually stopped checking on him or offering financial support.

Lil Durk remained an exception, according to Jam, because the rapper called regularly and deposited $50 to $1,000 into his prison account.

Jam appeared deeply uncomfortable while discussing that history and his alleged involvement in the August 2022 killing of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.

Los Angeles Magazine’s courtroom reporting described Jam shaking his head, covering his face, rocking his chair and answering questions in a low, hesitant voice. Jam briefly closed his eyes while jurors watched an Instagram Live video featuring Deandre “DeDe” Wilson joking with other OTF associates.

He chuckled twice during the recording, then briefly looked toward DeDe before quickly turning away while identifying his former associate.

Jam said he and Asa Houston flew into San Diego, then waited at a Hooters for other members of the group. According to Jam, Boonie called him there and explained an alleged plan to kill Quando Rondo during a telephone conversation.

Jam claimed Lil Durk was using a separate telephone during that conversation, although Jam only heard the rapper speaking somewhere in the background.

Jam also said the travelers received instructions not to contact Lil Durk directly after they began moving from San Diego toward Los Angeles.

DeDe later joined a FaceTime call with Lil Durk while Jam and the remaining travelers rode north inside a passenger van.

Jam recalled DeDe comparing the travelers to an elite military unit while discussing the group with Lil Durk during the alleged call.

A marijuana supplier connected to Quando Rondo had allegedly disclosed that the Georgia rapper planned to buy weed during his Los Angeles visit.

That information produced a plan to attack Quando Rondo outside his hotel when he came downstairs to collect the marijuana, Jam told jurors.

The group watched the hotel area on August 18, but Jam believed heavy police activity made an attack too risky that evening.

Jam said the alleged plan was postponed until the following day, and the travelers returned to their hotel for the night.

His testimony stopped before the August 19 shooting near the Beverly Center, where Lul Pab died while Quando Rondo escaped the gunfire.

Prosecutors claim Jam’s account places Lil Durk near the planning process without alleging the rapper physically traveled with the suspected shooters.

Lil Durk has pleaded not guilty, and his lawyers maintain that he neither ordered the attack nor offered payment for Quando Rondo’s death.

Before Jam resumed testifying, Steel challenged Farmby over how investigators interpreted private messages sent after King Von’s November 2020 killing.

Steel described the deadly Atlanta confrontation and emphasized that King Von had been shot before Quando Rondo moved his wounded body across the pavement.

The lawyer pressed Farmby about why authorities dismissed murder charges against Timothy “Lul Timm” Leeks after investigators concluded he acted in self-defense.

Steel used that decision to challenge the government’s claim that Lil Durk’s angry private messages demonstrated a real plan to order revenge.

The defense argued that grieving people can express rage without carrying out those words after receiving time to process a violent loss.

Farmby accepted that grief could produce such reactions but rejected Steel’s suggestion that investigators shaped private conversations around their preferred account.

Jam has admitted participating in the alleged operation, making his cooperation, previous statements and personal history with Lil Durk important credibility issues.

Steel will begin cross-examining Jam after prosecutors complete their remaining questions about the shooting and its aftermath Friday.
