A family narrowly escaped tragedy on Thursday after a four-bedroom home in Reduit, Gros Islet was engulfed by fire, forcing the occupants to flee for their lives.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded to the emergency at approximately 12:32 p.m. after receiving reports of a structural fire. Firefighters arrived to find the one-storey residence completely engulfed in flames.
Two people were inside the house when the blaze broke out but managed to safely evacuate before firefighters reached the scene. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews successfully contained and extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. However, the home sustained significant damage.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation by the Saint Lucia Fire Service.
