Côte d’Ivoire Launches Digital Skills Programme for Technical Education Teachers

Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry in charge of Technical Education  has partnered with Cybastion  and its philanthropic organisation, THEYA Foundation , to expand digital skills training for educators through the Africa DigiEmpower programme.

The initiative was officially launched on September 4 at Lycée Technique d’Abidjan, with Ivorian government officials joining representatives from Cybastion and THEYA Foundation to mark the start of the digital training programme for technical and vocational schools in Abidjan and surrounding areas.

More than 70 educators received training during the launch in high-demand technology fields, including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The programme uses internationally certified courses from Cisco Networking Academy to strengthen teachers’ digital capabilities.

The training follows a training-of-trainers model, enabling participating educators to pass their newly acquired knowledge and skills on to students in vocational schools. The approach is designed to expand the programme’s reach while building long-term digital skills capacity within Côte d’Ivoire’s education system.

Jean-Louis Moulot, Minister Delegate for Technical Education, and Etile Philomene Badou, Principal of Lycée Technique d’Abidjan, highlighted the importance of the programme to the country’s technical education and digital development goals.

Edgar Bouba, Managing Director of Digital Solutions at Cybastion, said the company is committed to developing the digital and technological skills of young people in Côte d’Ivoire.

Fatima Kourouma, Program Manager for THEYA Foundation, also highlighted the role of young people in driving Côte d’Ivoire’s economic and digital development.

The pilot is expected to provide a foundation for expanding Africa DigiEmpower across Côte d’Ivoire’s network of technical education institutions. Beyond cybersecurity and AI, the programme will equip educators and students with practical skills in networking, coding and digital fundamentals.

The initiative forms part of Cybastion’s Digital Fast Track approach, which focuses on helping countries develop the local skills and capabilities needed to sustain digital transformation and participate in the digital economy.
