Comment on Labour’s election leaflets condemned as ‘pure fabrication’ by opposition parties by Frankly

In reply to James. Just to be clear, it’s hogwash. The job of the planning committee is to approve appropriate building proposals and refuse inappropriate ones. The Labour dominated committee has legitimately refused applications for well over 2,500 homes since Labour took power, for all sorts of reasons, including impact on heritage and on daylight. The one Green councillor on the committee has not – and cannot – manage to get any housing refused whatsoever. He recently voted against proposals with inadequate social housing at International House/Pop Brixton, an application proposing to build 188 unaffordable homes on council land, evicting 100 local businesses and reducing the daylight in council homes adjacent by up to 85% – but was outvoted by all 6 Labour members on the committee
