By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man and a baby were reportedly injured during a shooting near the Puma Gas Station in San Ignacio Town on Monday night.
Preliminary information identifies the adult victim as Carlton McKoy, who reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg. The baby was reportedly struck by gunfire during the incident and was later transferred for further medical treatment, possibly to Belmopan or Belize City.
Initial reports suggest the shooting may have occurred during an attempted robbery and that a security officer fired at the suspected robber. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been confirmed by police.
The conditions of McKoy and the injured child remain unknown. Police are expected to release additional information as their investigation continues.
