ZIMBABWE’S Young Warriors arrived in Mauritius this Friday ahead of the second leg of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Under-23 qualifier against the hosts.
The Young Warriors travelled to Mauritius after securing a 2-0 victory over Mauritius in the first leg, played at the National Sports Stadium last Wednesday.
The result gives Zimbabwe an advantage heading into the return fixture, with the team now looking to complete the job.
If Zimbabwe beat Mauritius they proceed to the next round of the qualifying campaign where they will face Mali.
The Young Warriors’ second leg is scheduled for Monday the 6th of October in Mauritius.
The tie also forms part of the qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, adding further significance to the encounter.
Young Warriors coach Marc Sanchez will be hoping his charges can maintain their defensive discipline and build on the first-leg performance when the two sides meet again.
“We just hope to stage another good performance in Mauritius, most importantly to avoid conceding.
“One thing is they will come at us, and we have to be ready for that,” he said.
Sanchez marked his debut with the team on Wednesday, and Monday’s game will be his second since appointed.
