VULGAR CAPITALISM

Vulgar capitalism, fueled by presidential family self-enrichment, is clearly visible in American society. Sadly, the nation is witnessing unprecedented presidential greed that the GOP-controlled House and Senate have allowed to go unchecked.
This is disgraceful. We now better understand why the presidential family favors vulgar capitalism over multicultural, inclusive democracy. Hence, under Donald J. Trump, the presidency has become a family-affair economic enterprise. Even his youngest son, Barron, reportedly is worth at least $150 million at age 20, reflecting this pattern. Thus, the Trump administration’s motto appears to be; the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Shame on US. Hence, if you fool me once it’s you, but if you fool me twice it’s US. More importantly, we all know that fools make a mockery of sin.

Obviously, the 77 million Americans who voted for President Trump in 2024 are shameless, because they were fooled twice. However, we all know that God is never fooled; nor is He mocked, because only God can judge the heart of the human mind. This is why the Bible admonishes us to, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made of himself no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men, and being found in the fashion of a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2: 5-8).

Glory hallelujah to the King of all want-to-be kings. Of course, President Trump and his GOP MAGA-cult know absolutely nothing about servanthood leadership, because they only embrace self-centered-self- serving leadership.

Those who mock sin often think and act lawlessly, especially in financial matters. As the Bible states, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” (1 Timothy 6:10). Free-enterprise capitalism is different from vulgar capitalism, which exploits the masses. Sin causes pain, and American history reflects that pain through the socioeconomic exploitation of enslaved Black people. Slavery left deep spiritual, social, and psychological wounds that too many White Americans— especially MAGA Trump supporters—refuse to acknowledge or confront.

Too many MAGA Trumpsters deny the significance of 1619, because it exposes the harm caused by White privilege and institutional racism. Sadly, President Trump has used the presidency to punish perceived enemies, glorify himself, and enrich himself, his family, political allies, and campaign donors. That is an ungodly shame. Worse still, the Supreme Court—created to guard against lawlessness and corruption—has enabled President Trump’s capitalistic corruption. The central feature of capitalism is the profit motive, not the universal common good. In fact, some members of the Supreme Court should be held accountable for failing to uphold the time-honored principles of law, order, and the dignity of the Court. Sadly, The Supreme Court gave President Trump free rein to practice vulgar, selfish capitalism, and working-class Americans are paying the price. Shame, Shame, Shame!
