Uganda thrash Senegal to open Rugby Africa 7s account

The Uganda Rugby Cranes 7s have started their Africa 7s campaign on a high note, thumping Senegal 38-00.

The Cranes got off to a nervy start, but finally settled down in the game after 2 minutes. Speedster Daniels Otim opened the scoring for Uganda, with Malcom Okello making the conversion to give Uganda a 7-point lead.

Up next, Alex Aturinda powered his way over the try line and scored in the corner. From a difficult angle, Okello once again split the uprights to bring Uganda’s score to 14 points.

Uganda’s forwards continued their dominance with Desire Ayera and Ian Munyani scoring a try each before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the backs came back to the party with Malcom Okello breaking the line from halfway to score under the posts. Okello additionally converted his try, bringing his success rate to 3/5.

Karim Arinaitwe was up next with a try, picking from the base of the scrum and going over on his own to confirm Uganda’s win.
