TNM (Telekom Networks Malawi) has acquired the OCL data centre in Kanengo, Lilongwe, as part of efforts to expand its digital infrastructure capabilities and support the growth of digital services in Malawi.
The telecommunications operator said the acquisition will strengthen its infrastructure base and support improved service quality, reliable internet solutions and the expansion of enterprise services, including Data Centre as a Service.
TNM said the facility will also provide a foundation for the development of new digital services, including its Mpamba digital financial services platform, as well as emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and AI-as-a-Service.
The investment forms part of TNM’s broader growth strategy and its efforts to develop digital infrastructure aligned with Malawi’s long-term development ambitions under the Malawi 2063 agenda.
The operator said the expanded infrastructure capacity will enable it to create greater value for customers while supporting the country’s transition towards a digitally enabled middle-income economy.
