Tafaree Sanchez remanded over $8,214 armed robbery at Crooked Tree business

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 26-year-old call center agent has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Chinese businessman’s establishment in Crooked Tree.

Tafaree Rohan Sanchez, a resident of Flamboyant Street and an employee of Transparent BPO, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge of robbery.

Police allege that on September 2, 2026, Sanchez and other persons who have not yet been arrested, while armed with a firearm and using force, robbed businessman Jian Jue Shi of cash and other items valued at a total of $8,214.

The stolen property reportedly included $800 in cash, three bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label rum, three iPhones and two Toyota Hilux pickup truck keys.

Sanchez pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Due to the nature of the offence, bail was denied at the Magistrate’s Court level and Sanchez was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November 9, 2026.

During his arraignment, Sanchez asked whether his case could be dealt with expeditiously. The Senior Magistrate explained that disclosure must first be provided before the matter can proceed toward trial.

Sanchez is scheduled to return to court on November 9.
