SZA Debuts Her First VANS Collaboration With VANSZA Drop 1
SZA puts her spin on the Knu Skool Mule, Authentic Kickdown and apparel in her first delivery as Artistic Director for VANS.

The anticipation has been building to see what SZA would bring to the table after being appointed Artistic Director for VANS. After fronting the brand’s “Off the Wall” campaign for Spring 2026 earlier this year, the record-breaking R&B queen is officially ready to unveil her first collaborative collection.

Featured in a lookbook that captures the essence of SZA — a collision of nature, creativity and self-expression — the collection is highlighted by her iterations of the Knu Skool Mule and Authentic Kickdown. Both silhouettes incorporate motifs that put you in the mind of the music video for her GRAMMY-nominated single, “Good Days,” with the latter infusing custom artwork by Sage Adams. Photographer India Sleem pairs a classic California backdrop with product and landscape photography courtesy of Yudo Kurita to create imagery that accentuates the collection itself. Butterflies, duck camo, bug life and creatures of the sea pair perfectly over a range of hoodies, checkered print, shorts, sweats, denim and other streetwear essentials.
VANSZA Drop 1 really comes together to tell the story of why a collaboration of this nature makes so much sense. With the Authentic Kickdown for example, the collapsible heel is directly influenced by the way she treated her kicks growing up. She states in the press release, “My mom has been telling me, ‘Please stop stepping on the back of your shoes’ my whole life. She hates it. So I put the design aspect in my shoes.” It’s these personal anecdotes that give the collection as a whole an eclectic vibe that only SZA could spin.
You can expect the VANSZA Drop 1 collection to officially launch on October 22, 2026, both online and at VANS retail locations. SZA herself will make special appearances Vans Glendale Galleria in California on October 17 and Foot Locker at Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey on October 21.
