Soon come: Ky-Mani Marley’s ‘Love & Energy’ album

Love & Energy lands on August 28 as his eighth studio outing, or at least that’s the word coming straight from his camp. Of course, many of us might remember Conversations, his full joint project with Gentleman back in 2016 on Island and Vertigo. Whether that one counts toward the solo tally depends on how you look at the discography, but either way, a decade without a standalone album under his own name is a heavy stretch.

The build-up for this project’s been unfolding in slow motion for nearly two years. It kicked off back in 2024 with New Creature while he was healing up from foot surgery, accompanied by tour plans carrying the same title. And things stepped up in February 2025 with the title track Love & Energy, featuring Iba Mahr and Lutan Fyah over a riddim built by Grammy-winner Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown. The visuals for that one were shot and directed by Marley himself right in Jamaica, keeping things raw and outdoors without any unnecessary studio polish.

April 2025 brought us the third single All This Love, co-produced by Marley and Brown through Konfrontation Muzik Group and Dubshot Records. And Brown brings serious pedigree to the desk, given his past work with Nas, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, and Busy Signal.

When the full package drops, it runs sixteen tracks deep. The guest roster reads like a heavy sound system lineup, pulling in Sizzla, Gyptian, Agent Sasco, Anthony B, Bugle, and Andrew Tosh alongside the earlier features. Two pairings getting early chatter are War Inna Babylon featuring Sizzla, Gyptian, and Agent Sasco, alongside One Family with Bugle, both shaping up to be massive on stage.

Other titles floating around the tracklist include Miss Electric, City Views, Love Is Key, A Little Bit (I’m Okay), and Breathe. But do not take that running order as final yet since the available track listings are still shifting.

Meanwhile, Marley’s been taking these road vibrations directly to the people. He just wrapped up his European run, even treating the crowd at the fortieth Summerjam in Cologne to an unreleased preview of A Little Bit (I’m Okay). And next up is Kaya Fest in Toronto on August 22, where he shares a massive bill with his brothers Stephen, Julian, and Damian, plus icons like Busta Rhymes, Shabba Ranks, and Lila Iké.

Ten years between solo projects means this was never about rushing out quick tracks for a calendar slot. August 28 will show us how all these pieces fit together.
