Royce White Really Wants The WNBA’s Attention

Will someone please come look at Royce White.

No seriously, come look at the former NBA player who left the league after mental health struggles prevented him from travelling, because he can’t stop seeking attention. 

Maybe Viola Davis can take Royce White and sit her on his lap and tell him “You is smart, you is kind, you is important” he will stop bothering the women in the WNBA, who quite frankly weren’t thinking about him. 

White and Enes Kanter Freedom, another washed up former NBA player, claimed that they were not eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft, White decided that he’d show up to the Connecticut Sun-Indiana Fever game wearing a long blonde wig.  

“The Kweeeen has arrived,” he wrote on Instagram with a photo of him in his wig. “They better bow for a beautiful Black Trans Lesbian! Royce White For President. WNBA #LetRoyshaPlay.”

When White was asked why he was at the game by Outkick, White responded: “First of all, Black trans lesbians matter.”

“We’ve always mattered, we’ve always existed,” he continued. “We have a right to exist, and we have a right to be included and participate, and that’s what I’m here to do. I’m here to participate and scout some of the competition as well.”

See…because the joke was…forget it. 

Seems like White has a lot of time on his hands considering he’s flamed out as both a basketball player and a politician. In 2026 White ran for Senate but that went over about as well as his WNBA appearance, People.com reports. 

And all of this began after Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham stated in an interview with ESPN that she wants women’s locker rooms protected from transathletes. 

“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,'” she told ESPN in March. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”

On Aug. 23, Freedom, 34, was ejected from an Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game after he and Chicago Sky star Natasha Cloud got into an argument.  Freedom, a self-described “human rights activist” wore a shirt that read, “WOMAN noun adult human female.”

“I’m supporting women, and that is the reason they’re kicking me out,” Freedom told a group of arena officials and law enforcement officers in the Wintrust Arena lobby, according to The Athletic. “It’s unacceptable.”

Freedom and White somehow caught the attention of political stunt queen and former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz who offered his legal services should they need them. 

“Gaetz Law is currently providing legal counsel to Royce White,” Gaetz told Fox News earlier this month. “Royce White changed how the NBA thinks about player mental health. Now Royce White is an inspirational voice for Black transexual lesbians everywhere who aspire to play in the WNBA.”

Prior to that, White announced, “I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for the purpose of basketball, professional basketball, so I’ll be declaring for the WNBA draft in 2027 as well,” per Fox News.

“I think I’d be unstoppable. But I’m a team-first guy,” he added. “I’m a pass-first kind of player. I do the little things. I led my team in all five major stat categories at Iowa State University, so I do a little bit of everything. I’ll do whatever the coach needs me to do. I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do… I think it’s only fair.”

White also noted that he’d consider filing “a discrimination lawsuit” if he goes undrafted.

Someone, anyone, please go pay Royce White some attention.
