By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are reviewing surveillance footage after a threatening message targeting a senior Customs officer was discovered at the western border on Monday morning.
Police confirmed during their press briefing that officers responded to the cargo area at the Customs Department after a piece of cloth bearing a written threat was discovered.
Investigators processed the scene and are now reviewing surveillance cameras in the area in an attempt to determine who placed the message.
The writing reportedly contained a threat and the surname of a specific individual.
Public reports identified the person targeted as Luis Betancourt, the Officer in Charge of Customs at the western border.
Police said security guards are already stationed in the area but additional security measures will now be put in place.
Investigators have not publicly identified a suspect or established a motive for the threat.
